our board

Canberra Men's Centre is incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1991, which makes us more accountable to the ACT community by putting us on the public record - providing a legal framework for our operations and activities, our financial affairs, our status as an association and identifying the people responsible for the governance of the organisation.

The Board of Directors

One of the tasks for members of the Association is the annual election of the Board, which is comprised of a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, a Treasurer and at least three but no more than five ordinary members, all of whom must be Members of the Association. The Board is responsible for:

  • upholding and advancing the purpose, vision and values of the Association;
  • exercising of the powers of the Association;
  • meeting the requirements of the Associations Incorporation Act. day-to-day management and administration of the Association and its services;
  • financial management of the Association including meeting the requirements of funding agreements.

Less formally, being on the Board gives members a direct and active role in Canberra Men's Centre's business, working closely with Directors and other staff to give organisational support, create a forum for reviewing service activities and ensure that practice standards are sound. Most importantly, the Board works with everyone - staff, members, service users and stakeholders to help build and put forward Canberra Men's Centre's vision for services to men in the ACT.  If you're interested in being involved, call the Director Men's Centre on (02) 6230 6999.
